Sabin Penea is one of the most versatile and curious violinists of his generation, recording the entire musical oeuvre of Dimitrie Cantemir with the Anton Pann Early Music Ensemble, where he has been a member for 8 years.
Sabin artistically coordinates two festivals – JazzUp Sea in Constanța and JazzUp Peak initiated in 2022 in Brașov. At the same time, he is a laureate of the Kreutzer Competition, Northern String Competition, Mimas Island Festival, Marie Cantagrill Competition and Plovdiv International Chamber Music Competition, being invited as a soloist with ensembles such as the Radio Chamber Orchestra in Bucharest or the Young Famous Orchestra in Cluj.
He is an active musician, sharing the stage with artists such as Maximilian Hornung, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Diana Ketler, Răzvan Popovici, Mihaela Martin or Hyung-ki Joo.
He is a graduate of the National University of Music in Bucharest at the class of Professor Gabriel Croitoru, then being tutored in Graz by Silvia Marcovici and later in Freiburg by Sebastian Hamann, where he still resides today.
Currently, Sabin plays a Nicolo Gagliano instrument from 1760, provided by the Landessammlung Baden-Württemberg.
