Born in Seoul, Soyoun studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts (mdw) in Vienna and graduated with Diplom.Magister Artium with Professor Wener Tripp.

After graduation, she moved back to Korea, being named principal flautist of The New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She toured in Japan and USA with Korean flute ensembles and also had appearances as soloist with KBS Symphony Orhcestra and was a guest principal flautist of the Kyunggi Philharmonic and Seungnam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Now, she is a flute professor at the Suwon University of Music and Music Director of “Flute and Friends” in Seoul.
