Dalma-Lidia Toadere

(Romania)

Conductor Dalma-Lidia Toadere (b. Kovács) is a remarkable presence on the Romanian musical and educational scene. A graduate of the ‘Sigismund Toduță’ Music High School in Cluj-Napoca, where she studied piano as her main instrument, she continued her artistic training at the ‘Gheorghe Dima’ National Music Academy, where she studied orchestral conducting under the guidance of professors Petre Sbârcea, Ciprian Para and Victor Dumănescu.

Her conducting career began in her student years, a promising start that paved the way for numerous collaborations with symphony orchestras throughout the country. Over the past ten years, Dalma Toadere has distinguished herself through her involvement in the Do Re Mi Start! educational program of the Cluj-Napoca Music Academy, conducting and moderating concerts dedicated to children. To date, she has given over 200 educational concerts with original concepts in cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Bonțida, Craiova, Bucharest, Satu Mare, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Covasna, Suceava, Oradea, Sibiu and others.

This practical experience has been enriched by a rigorous academic approach, concretized during her doctoral studies, when she researched the performance of children’s concerts from a musical, interactive and organizational perspective. Her doctoral dissertation, completed Summa cum laude in 2020, was the basis for the publication of her work “Musical mediation in children’s educational concerts”, a valuable contribution to the field of music education.

Dalma Toadere is currently a lecturer at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, where she teaches courses in music mediation, choral conducting, choral arranging and coordinates students’ artistic practice. Since 2021, her academic activity has gone beyond the country’s borders, being invited to teach music mediation courses at the Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest, and since 2022 she has also been collaborating with the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima”.

Conductor Dalma Toadere masterfully combines the art of conducting with a passion for pedagogy, with a main mission to bring classical music closer to the public through an innovative and accessible approach.
