Born in 1995 in Bregenz, Damian Keller is an Austrian accordionist, music educator and performer, active both as a soloist and as a dynamic chamber musician across a wide range of stylistic contexts.
He began studying the accordion at the age of seven and was admitted in 2009 to the Vorarlberger Landeskonservatorium(now Stella Privathochschule für Musik), where he studied with Goran Kovacevic and became a member of the special programme for musically gifted students of the State of Vorarlberg. In 2015, he continued his studies at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK) with Univ.-Prof. Grzegorz Stopa, graduating with distinction in 2023.
His artistic education has been further enriched through masterclasses with Iñaki Alberdi, Song Na, Stefan Hussong, Frank Marocco, Mikael Augustsson, Andreas Nebl and Semion Shmelkov.
Alongside his particular passion for tango, his solo repertoire focuses on baroque, classical and contemporary music. Collaboration with young composers and the premiere of new works and concepts form an essential part of his artistic profile. He has worked closely with the Iranian composer Alireza Toghiyani and has given world premieres of works by Gerald Futscher, among others.
Damian Keller is a prize winner of numerous national and international competitions. In 2017, together with Johanna Gossner, he was awarded a scholarship at the Fidelio Competition of the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna. In 2019, the duo released their debut album “Danse Macabre”.
He has recently performed as a soloist and chamber musician at the Vienna Musikverein, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Hamburg Opera, and in productions with the orchestra Camerata Musica Reno and Walktanztheater. He has also appeared in productions at the Vorarlberger Landestheater and Bühne Baden.
Since autumn 2024, Damian Keller has been a lecturer at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna, combining his concert activity with pedagogical work.
