Born into a musical family, Enrico Dindo began studying the cello at the age of six. He completed his musical training under the guidance of Antonio Janigro and, in 1997, won First Prize at the International Rostropovich Competition in Paris.

After an eleven-year tenure, between 1987 and 1998, as principal solo cellist of the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, he embarked on an international solo career, performing with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras. These include the BBC Philharmonic, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonica della Scala, St Petersburg Philharmonic, London Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra of Tokyo, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

He has collaborated with leading conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Aldo Ceccato, Gianandrea Noseda, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Yutaka Sado, Paavo Järvi, Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Riccardo Muti and Mstislav Rostropovich, who wrote of him:
“He is a cellist of extraordinary qualities, a complete artist and a fully formed musician, endowed with an exceptional sound that flows like a beautiful Italian voice.”

Numerous composers have written works especially for him, including Giulio Castagnoli, Carlo Boccadoro, Carlo Galante, Roberto Molinelli, Fabio Vacchi, Mauro Montalbetti and Jorge Bosso.

Enrico Dindo is the permanent conductor of the chamber orchestra I Solisti di Pavia, which he founded in 2001. He served as Music Director of the HRT Symphony Orchestra in Zagreb between 2014 and 2021 and, since January 2022, has been Artistic Director of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana. He teaches cello at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, at the Pavia Cello Academy, and within the summer courses of the Garda Lake Music Festival.

His discography includes recordings for Chandos, featuring the two cello concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich, recorded with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda. For Decca, he recorded the complete works for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven and the Six Suites by Johann Sebastian Bach.

Together with I Solisti di Pavia, he has also recorded the three cello concertos by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, two albums dedicated to the cello concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, the concertos by Joseph Haydn, and the Cello Concerto for Strings by Nikolai Kapustin, alongside works by Astor Piazzolla.

Enrico Dindo is a member of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and plays a Pietro Giacomo Rogeri cello (ex Piatti) from 1717, on loan from the Fondazione Pro Canale.
