Jakob Krupp (born 1995) is a double bassist active across classical, contemporary and jazz music. During his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, he performed with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz.
In 2019 and 2020, he was a member of the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie Frankfurt. He currently performs contemporary music internationally, including projects in collaboration with Ensemble Modern. His early interest in jazz earned him prizes at Jugend jazzt and the Konzertpreis der Jazztage Dresden.
Together with the Frank Dupree Trio, he performs regularly on major stages across Germany. The trio’s debut album, Nikolai Kapustin – Blueprint, released in early 2022, received significant attention from both audiences and critics.
His musical activity, spanning multiple genres, has taken him to California, Canada and South Africa, with performances at venues such as Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Berliner Philharmonie and the Musikverein Wien.
Jakob Krupp has also appeared at festivals including the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, the Berliner Festspiele and the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and has been involved in radio and television productions by SWR, WDR and BR.
