Born in 1996 in Kitzbühel, Johanna Gossner is an Austrian clarinettist recognised for her technical precision and expressive maturity. She began her musical education at the Staatskonservatorium Tirol (State Conservatory of Tyrol) in Innsbruck with Christian Egger and Max Bauer.
In 2015, she continued her studies with Alexander Neubauer at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna. Since 2021, she has been studying with Gerald Pachinger at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. She also completed the orchestral programme at the Royal College of Music Stockholm in collaboration with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Masterclasses with distinguished musicians and summer academies in Oslo (2018 and 2019) further enriched her education.
She regularly performs with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Bühne Baden, Wiener Concert-Verein, Wiener Symphoniker and the Vienna State Opera. She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in Japan, China, Portugal, Scandinavia and Latin America.
Her achievements include numerous national and international prizes. In 2018, she was awarded First Prize with a perfect score at the SVIREL International Music Competition. She is a three-time First Prize winner at the Fidelio Chamber Music Competition Vienna and has received awards at the International Franz Cibulka Competition (Graz), Musica Juventutis (Vienna), the European Chamber Music Competition (Turin) and the North Competition (Stockholm).
In 2020, she received the First Prize Ari Kummer Prize at the ClariArte festival, organised by the Vienna Clarinet Connection. In 2023, she was honoured as Richard Wagner Emerging Artist of the Year in Leipzig and received one of the prestigious Bayreuth Scholarships for Young Artists. In the same year, she was named Richard Wagner Upcoming Artistand, together with Duo Minerva, became a sponsorship award winner of Klub Klassik – Vienna Music Society.
