Kristoffer Wøien

Kristoffer Wøien is a Norwegian conductor active in opera and the symphonic and chamber repertoire. He holds a master’s degree in conducting from Norwegian Academy of Music, where he studied with Ole Kristian Ruud, and has also studied at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. His work brings together opera productions, orchestral projects and contemporary music.

He has worked as an assistant conductor at Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, taking part in productions such as The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček and Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák. In this context, he collaborated closely with singers, directors and conductors. In 2024, he gave his master’s concert with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK).

In 2025, Kristoffer Wøien premiered The Hills of Change – A Transcultural Symphony, a project dedicated to contemporary music and collaboration with living composers, first presented in Oslo and Iași. He has conducted a wide range of orchestras and wind bands across Norway and has made recordings of Norwegian music for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

He is the artistic director of Più Sinfonietta, an ensemble dedicated to creating opera for children. Within this project, he has arranged and conducted children’s versions of The Cunning Little Vixen, aiming to make opera accessible, engaging and musically strong for young audiences.

In 2025, Kristoffer Wøien served as assistant conductor with the London Philharmonic Orchestra on their tour of Germany. Through his work in opera, symphonic repertoire and contemporary music, he continues to build a career that connects musicians and audiences through both established and new works.
