Monica Cattarossi

Monica Cattarossi is a pianist based in Milan, with a sustained activity in the field of chamber music and accompaniment. She has been invited to perform at major international festivals and has appeared in numerous prestigious concert halls, developing long-standing collaborations with artists such as Julius Berger, Umberto Clerici, Enrico Dindo, Rocco Filippini, Antonio Meneses and Dora Schwarzberg, as well as with outstanding young musicians, including cellists Erica Piccotti and Ettore Pagano.

As a soloist, she performed Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, an ensemble with which she collaborated for many years. As part of a piano duo, she recorded the complete works of André Jolivet together with Filippo Farinelli for the Brilliant Classics label. She is also a member of the keyboard ensemble of the Accademia Chigiana. Most recently, she recorded a CD together with Ettore Pagano for Suonare Newsmagazine.

Her pedagogical activity is closely connected to leading institutions: Monica Cattarossi holds the Chair of Piano Accompaniment at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano and the Chair of Chamber Music at the Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan.

She has given masterclasses at Sapporo Music University, the Seoul Chamber Orchestra and the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. As a piano accompanist, she has collaborated with Mozarteum University Salzburg, the advanced training academies in Biella and Pinerolo, the Pavia Cello Academy, and currently with the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona.

Her artistic path is underpinned by a solid academic background: she holds a degree in Musicology from the University of Cremona and studied with Alberto Baldrighi, Konstantin Bogino, Andrea Lucchesini and Jacques Rouvier.
