Pau Codina

Born in 1988 in Barcelona, Pau Codina began his cello studies at the age of five with Eulàlia Subirà.
He is a graduate of the Yehudi Menuhin School, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, where he studied with Louise Hopkins and Gary Hoffman.
He has performed extensively across Europe, both as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Auditori Pau Casals, L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.
As a soloist, he has appeared with the Andorra Chamber Orchestra, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Budapest, the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the RTVE Orchestra in Madrid and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra.
He recorded Suite op. 16 by Camille Saint-Saëns for cello and orchestra with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liègeunder the direction of Christian Arming for the label Fuga Libera.
Pau Codina is a member of Oculi Ensemble, the Fortuny Piano Trio and the Esbjerg Ensemble.
In addition to his concert activity, he has won several important competitions and awards, including the Guilhermina Suggia Award from MBF, the Kronberg Cello Festival Schlosskonzert Prize, both Third Prize and the Critics’ Prize at the Primer Palau Competition in Barcelona, and First Prize at the Concurso Permanente of Jeunesses Musicales de España.
