Radu Marțin
Visual Artist | from Romania
Radu Marțin (b. 1999) is a visual artist based in Iași, working with video, generative technology and performativity within the field of new media. His artistic practice focuses on the study of the human psyche in relation to technology, seeking to develop new visual expressions that engage with artistic perception and immersive experience. He graduated from the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design, specialising in Photography and Video Art, and is currently a PhD candidate within the same institution. He actively participates in numerous group exhibitions.
In 2021, he exhibited for the first time within “New Media Alley”, part of Romanian Creative Week, returning in the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions with works presented in the “New Media District” section. He has created installations showcased in events such as “Senzoria” (Iași) and “St.ART Festival” (Bucharest).
Also in 2021, he joined the collective EdgeMapping, collaborating on projects such as “Ship of Fools” and “Fluid Memory”, as well as on large-scale video mapping performances projected onto landmark buildings including the Palace of Culture in Iași, “Matei Vișniec” Theatre Suceava, the Water Tower Suceava, Vaslui City Hall, Iași Military Hospital, “Gheorghe Asachi” House Iași, Botoșani City Hall, Vaslui County Museum and the “Balș” Manor House in Darabani.
From the same year, he began collaborating nationally and internationally with various theatres as a video designer, contributing to performances such as “Mickiewicz-Eminescu”, “Erus and the Valley of Gratitude”, “Improvisation with a Dog”, “Silent Chekhov”, “The Strange Life of Anthony Steadman” and “Andrei”. In 2023, he collaborated with artist Andrei Cozlac on the production “Alice in Wonderland”, nominated for the UNITER Awards in the category Best Video Design.
Within the field of visuals and live performances, he has participated in numerous electronic music events and cultural projects including Classix Festival, Rocanotherworld, Cathedral Music Festival, New Music Oasis and Artist In Church. He contributed to the media component of Symphony No. III: “Offering to Brâncuși” by composer Viorel Munteanu. For the artist Paulina, he created the video moments presented at Summer Well Festival (Buftea) and Electric Castle (Cluj), as well as for the concert “Te Iubesc – Te Urăsc” at Arenele Romane, Bucharest.
In the field of cinematography, he worked as assistant director of photography for the feature film “Hrănește Animalul”(2020), directed by Alex Iurașcu, and held the same position in 2022 for “Principiul Incertitudinii”, directed by Sebastian Bădărău.
