Radu Rățoi (Moldova)

Radu Rățoi was born on 20 September 1998 in Chișinău, Moldova. He is one of the most important Moldavian accordion players, being internationally acclaimed by the music critics. He is the winner of more than 40 national and international competitions making him one of the most successful accordion players of his generation

He started musical studies at the very early age of 6, at the Alexei Starcea School of Arts from Chișinău. After winning his first competition at only 9 years old, he was admitted to be a student in the Ștefan Neaga Center of Excellence in Artistic Education. He continued studying his Bachelor and Masters at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Copenhagen at the class of renowned accordion teacher Geir Draugsvoll.

In 2018 he was awarded by the President of Republic of Moldova: Diploma of Excellence for his outstanding music activity. Among many international competitions he won, he was a laureate of: Coupe Mondiale (2018), Klingenthal Accordion Competition (2019), Arrasate Competition (2019) and International Accordion Competition Moscow (2020).

In 2022 he received one of the most important Moldavian National distinctions, “Master of Arts” from the President of Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

His career as soloist is stellar and he played in some of the most important concert halls in Europe and Asia: Berlin Philharmonic, Radio Concert House Copenhagen, Victoria Concert Hall, Copenhagen Tivoli Hall, Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, Harbin Concert Hall and many others.
