The Year of Czech Music celebrated through an eclectic experience

Monday 26 February 2024, we invite you to embark on a fascinating journey through the concert Bohemian Jazz | Bucharest Classix, a cultural symbiosis between the elegance of classical music and the spontaneity of jazz, which celebrates the Year of Czech Music through a harmonious exploration of the senses.

Classix – the Iași festival dedicated to classical music, brings the magic of the experience of live performance and multimedia show to the attention of the public in the capital through this event organized at Sala Gloria (Strada Bucovina no. 6, Bucharest). The concert is supported by Trio Bohémo and is organized by the Creative Industry Association, Showberry and the Czech Center, with the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Romania. Tickets have gone on sale online.

The concert program includes: Martin Brunner: Moving Silhouettes, Bedřich Smetana: Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15, Antonín Dvořák: Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 90 ‘Dumky’, Paul Schoenfield: Café Music.

The concert brings an eclectic experience consisting of Czech elegance and pathos, together with jazz virtuosity. Through the romanticism of Bohemia we celebrate the year of Czech music. But then, we enter a truly bohemian world, with the music of the American café in an evening full of exotic fusions!” confesses Dragoș Cantea, the artistic director at Classix. The event is organized on the occasion of 2024 – the Year of Czech Music, together with the Czech Center and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Romania.

Trio Bohémo, originally from the Czech Republic, has been gaining attention at a fast pace since its establishment in 2019. Made up of violinist Matouš Pěruška, cellist Kristina Vocetková and pianist Jan Vojtek, the trio has performed on numerous important stages such as the Musikverein in Vienna , London’s Wigmore Hall or Manchester’s Stoller Hall, where he consolidated his status in the field of chamber music. Their performances at renowned festivals such as Spring in Prague (Czech Republic), Schwarzwald Musikfestival in Freudenstadt (Germany) and Festival van Vlaanderen in Ghent (Belgium) have been noted internationally. From its inception until 2022, Trio Bohémo has been a member of the European Academy of Chamber Music and has studied under the guidance of acclaimed mentors such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.

This event organized alongside the Czech Center, on the occasion of the Year of Czech Music, is a good opportunity to invite the Bucharest audience to discover a new concert experience, through interdisciplinary, with the help of new technologies and new media arts. With the help of the exceptional Czech artists from Trio Bohemo, classical chamber music will take on new dimensions, just like at the Classix festival in Iași. We are confident that it will be an extraordinary concert, and the synergy of the arts and the fusion with light design and video mapping will render the classic contemporary adventure that our audience has fallen in love with.” – Patricia Brohanschi, director and co-founder of the Classix festival.

Classix Festival « a contemporary classic affair » will take place in Iași between February 18-25, 2024, and subscriptions and tickets have been put on sale online, in advance.
