Classix in Art 2023 scholarships

Asociația Industrii Creative, the organizer of the Classix Festival, with the support of the main partner of the 2023 edition, Kaufland Romania, launches the Classix in Art artistic creation scholarship program in the fields of: Visual Arts, Music, Performing Arts, Digital Art and New Media, Cultural Intervention. The call is already in its third edition, and so far 8 projects have benefited from funding during 2021 – 2022.

In an era of constant change, life’s ups and downs give us a different look every time. Society evolves, artists reinvent themselves, people adapt. We change – sometimes for the better, sometimes not. Art accompanies us throughout this journey of inner and surrounding metamorphosis. Evolution takes on new meanings depending on the experiences of our lives. Classix in Art 2023 is ready to reveal creative progress, our power of appreciation and emotional courage that we would not have suspected until now.

Visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, installations, ceramics, collage, textile art, architecture and design) - 2 scholarships;
Music (performance, composition) - 2 scholarships;
Performing arts (choreography, performance, dramaturgy - making the arts accessible to vulnerable groups) - 1 scholarship;
Digital art and new media (generation of multimedia content, graphics, video, animation, video art) - 1 scholarship;
Cultural intervention (participatory activation projects, interventions in public space, urban regeneration initiatives, street animation, community art) - 1 scholarship.

7 scholarships x 1000 eur gross will be awarded, and young artists, freelancers, independent artists, students, people without a stable income and residents in Romania can apply for the call.

The theme of this call is: “metamorphosis”. At the end of the three-month creative residency, the selected artists will each present a project relevant to their sphere of interest and their artistic practice. It targets projects that have an impact in the community and that can contribute to the revitalization of cultural life.

The scholarship holders selected to carry out the proposed projects, after signing the financing contracts, will receive a monthly net amount of 1550 lei, for 3 months (June-August), and in September they will hand over the completed projects. The method of calculating the scholarship and payments can be found in the regulations of this call. The works will be promoted in the online environment on the festival’s pages and in physical presence events organized by Asociația Industrii Creative.
