PANEL :: ARTing Minds

The panel “ARTing Minds” will take place on March 5, at the “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library Iași – Aula, as part of Classix in Focus, and proposes a conversation about the way art shapes not only our emotions, but also the structures of our thinking. If music can change our mood and literature can broaden our perspective, then art is not only expression, but also a mental exercise.

In the spirit of the Art & Mind theme of Classix Festival 2026, the discussion explores the relationship between creativity and the cognitive functions of the mind: memory, imagination, analytical ability, empathy, and discernment. We will reflect on how art trains us to tolerate ambiguity, to slow down, and to interpret beyond immediate reactions.

In a context where artificial intelligence can generate forms and structures but cannot experience meaning, the panel brings the human mind back to the center as a space of reflection and responsibility. Art does not offer definitive answers, but creates the conditions in which thinking becomes more nuanced, more attentive, and freer.
Beyond theoretical concepts, the conversation emphasizes the role of artists and educators in cultivating critical thinking and imagination, on how art activates deep mental processes and contributes to forming a critical presence in society.
