Classix in Focus :: Drum Bun
The Drum Bun Map is basically the result of Protect Public Space, a project which began as an Instagram page in 2017 (managed by Centrul Ceh). The map itself can be seen as a new configuration of the Instagram collection, a way of showing not just the architecture itself, but also its location and current state of being. It tries to cover the whole country because beyond the main cultural centre of Bucharest, many important structures are decaying due to their low visibility. It is not an exhaustive research on socialist heritage, but a subjective highlight of it and one of its goals is also to motivate people to visit these places which might be on the periphery of the country or region.
Roberta Curcă, Bucharest-based artist working with drawing, photography, objects, and artist books. Author of welcome signs/border marks project (on Instagram found as border_marks_archive)
