Raimondo Mazzon (IT) – organ
Classix Collective (RO)

The opening concert of Classix Festival 2026 will take place on 1 March, symbolically marking the beginning of an edition dedicated to the relationship between art and thought. Genesis will signal a moment of inception not only in the festival calendar, but also through a direct encounter with the sound of the cathedral organ.

The evening programme brings together works written for the liturgical space or conceived in direct dialogue with it, shaping an experience that intertwines reflection and sonic architecture. A central reference of the concert is the music of Giuseppe Sarti, the Italian composer who was present in Iași at the end of the 18th century, at the time of the inauguration of the city’s first Catholic organ—a rarely evoked heritage reference that anchors the programme in a local historical context.

The concert proposes a pre-classical programme, in which the organ recital of Raimondo Mazzon is complemented by Classix Collective, traversing sonate da chiesa and reaching towards contemporary sonic meditations. Genesis will open the festival as an act of beginning, attentive listening, and a return to essence.
