Discover the desire at Classix Festival 2024
Iași, 19 decembrie 2023 – The fifth edition of the Classix festival will take place in Iasi from February 18 to 25, 2024. The first tickets and subscriptions have been put on sale online.
Discover the desire
The concept dedicated to the “discovery of desire” will dominate Classix Festival 2024 in 8 distinct chapters, associated with each concert and space. This year’s theme will invite culture aficionados to join in a personal and introspective journey, encouraging them to explore the multidimensional nature of desire in the world of classical music, from the subtle to the passionate.
Classix 2024 will debut with a foray focused on introspection and self-discovery, reflected in the musical evolution of Enescu and Mahler. The festival will continue to celebrate the diversity of human desires, illustrated by Stravinsky’s tribal symbolism, and will mirror the emotional intensity of Rachmaninov’s compositions. Along with the concert sphere, the emphasis will also be placed on the interaction between the artists, promoting the juxtaposition between visual art and musical improvisation.
Part of the contemporary classic adventure is the focus on innovation, in line with the audience’s wishes and the festival’s DNA. The fifth edition will bring for the European premiere an interdisciplinary suite that combines oriental music with Persian poetry, against the background of European musical traditions and jazz influences. The entire musical journey will offer an exploration of the contemporary classical segment, and the conclusion will be marked by a foray into “world music”, emphasising the excellence and universality of the musical heritage.
The first two concerts have already been announced, and the positive reactions of the public appeared promptly. On February 20, 2024, The Classic Theory will take place at the Palace of Culture in Iasi, and the concert will include works by Caroline Shaw, Fanny Mendelssohn and Ludwig van Beethoven, performed by the Chaos String Quartet from Austria.
On February 21, 2023, the journey will continue with Bohemian Jazz, a concert that will combine the elegance of Czech music with the virtuosity of jazz. The event hosted by the Iași Students’ House of Culture will present works by Martin Brunner, Josef Suk, Astor Piazzolla and Paul Schoenfield, performed by Trio Bohemo from the Czech Republic.
“Even though we’re quickly approaching the holidays, the excitement and joy of preparing the next edition of Classix absolutely excites us. Especially when we see how loved and expected by the public this festival is. Although we have only just started to announce part of the program for the next edition, we already have 2 categories of sold out subscriptions and individual tickets are also being sold amazingly fast. We are always flattered by the trust we receive from those around us, and this motivates us to offer, year after year, an increasingly better cultural product. What we want to do in 2024 as well, ” said Patricia Brohanschi, the director and co-founder of the festival.
