Filip Papa
Concert: Classix Aeterna
Cellist Filip Papa is a founding member of the Ad Libitum Quartet, composed today of violinists Remus Azoiței and Șerban Mereuță and violist Bogdan Bișoc.
Born in Timișoara and studied in Cluj and Iași (under the guidance of VOCES master Dan Prelipcean), he achieved impressive results with the Ad Libitum Quartet, such as the Grand Prize, the International Press Jury Prize and the Musical Patronage Award at the Evian Competition (France) in 1997 or First Prize at the Max Reger Competition in Sondershausen (Germany).
He has recorded for Naxos, Vielenhaut Records, Electrecord and Quartz Media Production, and has been invited to festivals such as the Printemps des Arts in Monte Carlo, Orlando Festival in the Netherlands, Bernsheim Festival in Germany, the Gstaad Festival and the George Enescu Festival.
He often performs also as a concert soloist, collaborating with important musicians such as Bujor Prelipcean, Dan Prelipcean (VOCES Quartet), or Martin Lovett and Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet).
In his career of over 35 years, he has managed to receive invitations from prestigious venues around the world, from Cortot Hall in Paris, to the Konzerthaus Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam or Wigmore Hall in London.
Filip Papa is currently concert soloist under Iași State Philharmonic and an associate professor at the West University of Timișoara.
