Combining the concert activity with the pedagogical one, Mihai Ailenei is today the first solo clarinetist of Iași State Philharmonic and associate professor at the “George Enescu” National University of Arts.

As a soloist, he performed in concerts in Romania and in Europe, under the direction of distinguished conductors, such as Ion Baciu, Tiberiu Soare, Dietrich Scholler Manno, and Afonso Calleya.

He regularly holds masterclasses in Italy, and has impressive accomplishments in international competitions, such as Pacem in Terris in Bayreuth, Germany (1997) or Musica Contemporanea in Subiaco, Italy (1999).
