
Sorin Rotaru
Born in Sibiu, he began studying percussion at the age of 11 under the guidance of Professor Ioan Iliuț.
Winner of numerous awards at specialized competitions, his activity is rich and varied (soloist, chamber and orchestra musician, teacher). He graduated in percussion at UNMB, under the guidance of Professor Alexandru Matei, he also studied with Prof. Martin Opršal (Janacek Academy), with Prof. Peter Sadlo (Mozarteum).
He has collaborated with orchestras such as: Tel Aviv Philharmonic, National Radio Orchestra, Radio Chamber Orchestra, Bucharest National Opera, National Operetta Theater. He has hundreds of chamber concerts with ensembles such as Profil, Sonomania, Devotio Moderna, Archeus and the percussion ensemble Game.
He has done a lot of absolute and national premieres with contemporary music works by composers from all over the world. He is currently a percussion teacher at UNMB and a member of the Archeus Chamber Ensemble.
He has given concerts in countries such as: Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Bulgaria, Japan.
