The V Coloris wind quintet is an ensemble with international activity, but with strong connections with the music space in Denmark and Romania.
The word “coloris” translates to “color combination”, and V comes from the Roman numeral 5, which indicates the number of members in the group. The name expresses the way the quintet treats the approached repertoire – the interpretation as involved and varied as possible, but at the same time in accordance with the rigors imposed by the stylistic currents.
In June 2019 the ensemble was awarded the Second Prize at the Bucharest International Music Competition, and in October 2019 it won international recognition by winning the Third Prize at one of the most important chamber music competitions: Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition.
The V Coloris quintet plans to record a composition dedicated to the ensemble by the American composer Tom Brennan, as well as a collaboration with the famous Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen.
The complete works for woodwinds by Dinu Lipatti, recorded in the Lipatti 100% project, is the quintet’s debut album and was released in November 2020.
