Alexander Rubel is a German-Romanian historian and archaeologist, born on December 27, 1969. He currently holds the position of director of the German Cultural Center in Iași.
Rubel studied history, German studies, and philosophy at the University of Konstanz in Germany. After working as a researcher at the Department of Ancient History at this university, he moved to Iași, Romania, in 2000.
His career in Iași included several important positions:

• Director of the Goethe-Institut branch in Iași (2001-2003)
• DAAD Lecturer at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University
• Director of the Institute of Archaeology in Iași

Rubel is known for his research in ancient history, particularly regarding Ancient Greece and Rome.
In addition to his academic work, Rubel plays an important role in promoting German culture in Romania through his current position as director of the German Cultural Center in Iași.
