Valentina Druțu

Head of the Iași Art Museum – Palace of Culture and visual artist, Valentina Druțu, lives and works in Iași, carrying out a sustained diverse activity on the national and international scene of fine arts. The artist creates numerous exhibitions with a rich activity, especially in the field of painting and interior design, as well as curating, coordinating and organizing events within the Iași Art Museum.

Graduate of the “G. Enescu” Academy of Art in Iași, Faculty of Fine Arts, Decorative Arts and Design, class of 1995, class of Prof. Liviu Suhar, specialty painting, since 1996 she became a member of the Union of Fine Artists of Romania, Iași branch, and since 2006 a member of the Board of Directors of the UAPR Iași. Since 1995, he has been working at the Art Museum, the National Museum Complex of Moldova Iași – Palace of Culture, as a museographer, becoming director of this museum between 2007 and 2021, returning to this position from 2024 until today. Between December 7, 2021 and January 25, 2024, he held the position of manager within the same institution and also this year he completed his doctoral studies at the National University of Art “G. Enescu” Iași, in the field of visual arts, with the qualification Magna Cum Laude. In the fields of painting and interior design, she is one of the representative artists of her generation, her works being found in museum and private collections in the country and abroad. (U.S.A., Great Britain, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Sweden, etc.)

She has curated over 200 exhibitions and coordinated competitions dedicated to visual art, being a member of specialized juries in the country and abroad. She has held over 30 personal exhibitions and participated in over 150 group exhibitions both in the country and abroad. She supports a rich activity in the field of interior design, creating representative works.

She implemented within the Iași Art Museum the only exhibition in the country present in the form of a virtual gallery, on the museum’s website, dedicated to promoting the artists in the collection of the Iași Art Museum (19th and 20th centuries)

In 2016 she was the coordinator of the project for the redevelopment of the Iași Art Museum Iași and in 2024 the redevelopment of the permanent Gallery of European Art.

2000 MARGARETA STERIAN National Award for the realization of the retrospective exhibition OTTO BRIESE (1889-1963) and the creation of the exhibition catalogue

2012 UAPR Iaşi Award – for curating: Exhibition “Swedish Bread and Caviar” – Swedish artists from Stockholm – Huddinge

2013 UAPR Iaşi Award – for curating: Exhibition “Mixed Greeks” – artists from Thessaloniki- Greece.

2013 Romanian National Committee ICOM Award – for the thematic conception and redevelopment of the Poni-Cernătescu Museum  Iaşi
