Andrei Popov

Andrei Popov is Deputy Director and Head of Press Relations at the Austrian Cultural Forum Bucharest, part of the Embassy of Austria in Bucharest, where he has been a member of the team since 2019. In this capacity, he develops and implements projects within the Austria Kultur International network of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA), his work being firmly situated in the field of cultural diplomacy.

A graduate of the University of Bucharest in Political Science, he began his professional career in 1996 within the French-language editorial team of Radio Romania International, specialising in social and cultural affairs and producing numerous documentary features. His journalistic work was recognised with three international radio awards and longstanding collaborations with institutions such as RFI Paris, Radio France, Deutsche Welle and RTBF.

He later transitioned into cultural diplomacy. Before joining the Austrian Cultural Forum, he served as Head of Press Relations at the French Institute in Romania. He currently coordinates partnerships and oversees the implementation of Austria’s external cultural agenda in Romania, managing projects that facilitate dialogue between artists, institutions and cultural platforms in both countries.

He is co-author of France Danse Orient-Express (2019) and Book of visions for a #newTogether (2023).
