Gabriella Bergman
Gabriella Bergman was initially trained as a bassoonist at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. She later expanded her professional profile with project management studies at the IHM Business School and a management diploma from the Stockholm School of Economics.
From 2001, she was engaged as a bassoonist with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. In 2005, alongside her performing career, she was entrusted with developing the orchestra’s children and youth department, a role that led to her involvement in establishing a youth-focused company for the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stockholm.
In 2014, she transitioned into administrative work within the orchestra, and in 2015 she became Artistic Director of Music at Spira in Jönköping.
Gabriella has extensive experience in communicating music to audiences, both through lectures and concert introductions. She is deeply engaged with newly written music, including chamber repertoire, and as a member of the Danske Rør Quartet she contributed to commissioning several works by Danish and Nordic composers.
In Jönköping, she was one of the driving forces behind commissioned works and performances of contemporary repertoire, including the opera Glare by Danish-German composer Søren Nils Eichberg.
On 1 September 2020, she assumed the position of Ensemble Manager of the Esbjerg Ensemble.
